Tour de India 2012 comprises of
Professional Races (1 Race) and Mass  Participation Rides (3 Rides) that will travel in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune.
Tour de India 2012 is backed by a people's campaign - Find India's Lance Armstrong - which promises to discover one hidden talent from India and aid its professional growth by providing them the opportunity to train at Union Cycling Internationale's (UCI) training and development centre. The funding of the same will be raised through this very campaign.

Tour Down Under creates platform for the rest of the season

Vacansoleil-DCM has confirmed its roster for January's Santos Tour Down Under with Belgium's Thomas De Gendt hopeful of being in contention for general classification honours at the Australian WorldTour race.My objective for the race in 2012 is to get a good stage result which will bring me towards the top of the GC too if I don't lose time at the other stages. The beautiful weather and it being the first race of the season gives extra motivation.

CykelCity.se to Three Days of West Flanders

Team CykelCity.se will be the first Swedish team ever to start in the Three Days of West Vlaanderen. The Continental-ranked team said that it has received an invitation to the Belgian race, to be held March 2-4.“This is an historic start for both the team and the Swedish cycling,” said Aike Visbeek, the team's sports director.According to team manager Johan Ottosson, “Our team should be more professional in all aspects. That we start in the big races such as this is important, especially for our international sponsors Shimano, Cervelo, Craft and Morgan Blue. This is a great success for our entire organization and will help the whole team to evolve further,.”

Simon Cope joins Team Exergy Twenty12

The New Year will provide a new challenge for Simon Cope, after the former women's coach at the British Olympic Cycling Academy accepted a new role with leading US women's road outfit Team Exergy Twenty12. Cope has signed an initial one-year deal with the team, which includes 2008 Olympic Time Trial winner Kristin Armstrong on its book.Cope spent five-and-a-half years working with British Cycling and in recent seasons, his role had developed to the point where he was also the women's team manager at the Road World Championships. But Cope was eager to stress to Cycling news that he wasn't making the Stateside move voluntarily – funding cuts at British Cycling meant that he was made redundant and was forced into looking for a new challenge.

"At least" two more Tours de France for Evans.
2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans says he wants to ride the Grand Boucle at least two more times before considering retirement.
The BMC Racing Team Australian was speaking in Darwin where it was announced that he would become a spokesman for the Northern Territory.
"I have lived all around the world - I've lived many places around Australia, but of course I was born here in Katherine and it's just something that I feel for as a person, that I can contribute to," he said.

Saxo Bank team members building a school in Israel.
Bjarne Riis always has a surprise in store for his team-building sessions, and this year he continued that trend. Not only is Team Saxo Bank in Israel– believed to be the first time a top-ranked team has held its preparations there – but the riders will also build a school. A school for cyclists, of course.“Cycling for Peace” will be part of the Peres Center for Peace, and will integrate both Jewish and Muslim youngsters in its programme. It is located in Acre, in northern Israel.

Amador named to Costa Rica's Olympic team.
Andrey Amador of Movistar Team has been nominated for the 2012 Olympic games by the Costa Rica National Olympic Committee.  The central American country has one spot in the cycling events.
“It's a dream come true and a magnificent opportunity to be able to ride there,” Amador said on the Movistar team website.  “Which sportsman does not dream about taking part in the Olympic Games? It's the most important sporting event in the world and I'll be proud to represent my country in London."

Liquigas-Cannondale confirms Betancur for 2012 roster.
Italian ProTour squad Liquigas-Cannondale has completed its 2012 roster, naming 29 riders, six of whom are new to the green and blue formation.The top acquisition is Colombian Carlos Alberto Betancur, 22, winner of theGiro dell'Emilia and the 2010 Girobio, who joins the team from Acqua & Sapone.

2013 Tour de France set to start in Corsica.
2013 will see the 100th staging of the Tour de France and to mark the occasion the world's most iconic cycling event looks set to start on the French island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea, according to AFP. It will be the first time that the Tour has visited in the island since the race was founded in 1903.AFP reports that the news was announced by the president of the territorial community of Corsica, Paul Giacobbi, and race director Christian Prudhomme. Race organisers ASO have stated that further details will be given at an official announcement on December 6.

Rwanda targets a Continental team in 2012.
The Ferwacy, the Rwandan cycling federation, expects to launch a Continental team in 2012. "We have a meeting next month with the Minister for Sport and we will speak about the project," Aimable Bayingana, Ferwacy's president, told Cyclingnews on Saturday. "Ideally we would like to register our team for the 2012 season.
"Cycling in Rwanda is becoming more and more successful through its national team, which has been managed by former US pro rider Jock Boyer since 2007, and the Tour of Rwanda, which moved up to 2.2 level on the UCI calendar in 2009. A new 2.2 event has also been created this year, the Kwita Izina Cycling Tour.

Evans named Victorian Sportsperson of the Year.
The awards continue to come for Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, who picked up the Victorian Sportsperson of the Year this evening in a ceremony in Melbourne. It is the first time Evans has won the award, named for "Outstanding Contribution to Sport."
The 34 year-old was also named Victorian Male Athlete of the Year for the fifth time together with 2010 Commonwealth Games gymnastics gold medallist Ashleigh Brennan who took out Victorian Female Athlete of the Year - the pair stamping their name on the honour role alongside some of the nation's most renowned sportsmen and women including Cathy Freeman, Ron Barassi, Sharelle McMahon, Andrew Gaze, Steve Moneghetti and Shane Warne.

Pauwels pips Stybar in sprint

Two years after being beaten on the line in Hasselt, Kevin Pauwels (Sunweb-Revor) returned to the town in Flanders to beat current cyclo-cross world champion Zdenek Stybar (Quick Step Cycling Team), this time in a four-man sprint with Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet) and Tom Meeusen (Telenet-Fidea).

Team Type 1 at the Tour of Rwanda for charity and victory

At the end of September, Kiel Reijnen was still fighting for his health as he tried to be a cyclist again. His first season with Team Type 1 had suddenly stopped after seven months because of an unknown virus or bacteria, mononucleosis like, which confined him to complete rest.
Born in Bainbridge Island, Washington, and now based in Boulder, Colorado, Reijnen had started his schedule in France with GP Marseillaise, Etoile de BessĆØges and Tour of Haut Var. The 19th of February, the headline of the last post on his blog summarizes the whole fight of his season: “The hardest part of being an athlete”.

Joaquin Rodriguez is looking forward continuing with Katusha in 2012, which he says will become “more international” under new team manger Hans-Michael Holczer. He hopes to finally win one of the Classics, but will once again skip the Tour de France, concentrating instead on the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a EspaƱa.

Tour of Southland continues after winter weather

The organisers of New Zealand's PowerNet Tour of Southland were forced to cancel the stage seven individual time trial after winter weather blew in, making the 12.8km course unsafe.

Josh Atkins (PowerNet) will carry the race leader's jersey into the final stage to Invercargill, which will start on time at 1:30pm as planned.

Hoy pride at UCI World Cup gold

Britain's multiple Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy had a productive weekend at the opening round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Kazakhstan by adding a gold and silver medal to his already bulging trophy cabinet.
Hoy put aside his disappointment at missing out on the European Championships last month, where a chest infection forced his absence, by racing to gold in the men's sprint event on Sunday just 24 hours after claiming the silver medal in the keirin.

BMC, RadioShack and Sky will dominate 2012, Holm says

The 2012 season will be dominated by three “super teams”, according to Brian Holm. BMC Racing Team, RadioShack-Nissan and Sky will be the teams to look up to in the coming season.

Holm, formerly sport director at HTC-Highroad, and with Omega Pharma-Quick Step as of 2012, told politiken.dk that, “There is not doubt that next year we are faced with three super teams, BMC, RadioShack-Nissan and Sky."

Thomas chooses Olympics over Tour de France
The track events at the  London 2012 Olympics have priority for Geraint Thomas over the Tour de France. The Sky rider has said that he will ride the Giro d'Italia next year and skip the Tour so that he can do as well as possible in the London Olympics.Thomas took gold in the team pursuit on the track in Beijing in 2008, and will follow the same routine. "I'm going to be doing similar preparations to before Bejing when I rode the Giro and didn't ride the tour," said Thomas to BBC Sport Wales.

UCI releases top 15 teams toward World Tour

The UCI today released its top 15 teams according to its sporting criteria, a calculation of points accrued during the 2010 and 2011 seasons by riders which are included in their 2012 rosters.These teams will automatically earn World Tour licenses if they meet the UCI's other licensing criteria.A notable absence on the list of teams 16th-20th in the rankings, who will vie for the final three of the 18 spots on the WorldTour, is the Skil - Shimano team, Project 1t4i, the only team which had applied for the WorldTour but failed to make the list.

Roulston confirms with RadioShack for 2012

Hayden Roulston has confirmed that he will ride with RadioShack-Nissan-Trek in the coming year. He is already planning his season for the Spring Classics and the build-up to a gold medal at the London Olympics."I'm really excited to finally confirm my future," Roulston said. "This is a great move which enables me to have the best of both worlds and I can't stress how important that is to me."

Livestrong's early finish leads Lewis down unexpected roads

When Joe Lewis looked at his 2011 schedule with development team Trek-Livestrong, he fully expected to be racing with them well into August and perhaps even September. As a final year under 23, showcasing his talents on a world stage in the bigger races that feature at the end of the American racing calendar were crucial to launching him on the road to a professional career in 2012.
