Scarponi, Cunego and Petacchi lead the Italian squadra
Lampre ISD's 28-man squad was unveiled at a presentation in San Vincenzo, Italy on Thursday. The Lampre-ISD partnership began last year with and has another two years left to run on its current deal, with the ISD Continental team acting a feeder team for the World Tour arm.Last year the team won 26 races, an adequate return by any standards but with Scarponi awaiting the CAS ruling over Alberto Contador, their biggest victory could be decided in a court room. Scarponi finished a distant second to Contador in last year's Giro but may still be crowned champion if the Spaniard is handed a retrospective ban.

SRAM is smoother, quieter, more powerful, more refined

A few years of experience – six years since the original Force, more than four since the first Red – have done the new 2013 SRAM Red group, unveiled yesterday, a lot of good. Not only does it shift and brake better than the previous version, it's also 150g lighter, more refined in its feel and operation, and more mature in its presentation. We've only managed a few hours on the new kit thus far but it's already leaving a positive impression. The first thing you notice about the revamped SRAM Red group when you swing a leg over the saddle is the new lever shape. Sort of a blend of old Red and Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 with a little bit of Campagnolo tossed in for good measure, the smaller but still tapered bodies are easier to firmly wrap your fingers around and the extra room on the bottom means riders with large hands no longer have to compromise their grip.

Cheers!!

Albert II crowned king of the Belgians

With an irrefutable performance in the dunes of Koksijde 25-year-old Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus) completed a race-long solo to capture his second win at the Cyclo-cross World Championships. No other rider combined his excellent technical skills through the sand stretches with the brutal power he had on the sections in between the two unforgiving dunes.I thought about that the last time I rode it, thinking that he was now mine. This feeling is unbeatable. It's the biggest win of my career. Now my season succeeded," Albert said.

McCarthy affirms credentials for leadership role at Jayco-AIS
After the departures of Australian duo Michael Hepburn and Luke Durbridge to GreenEdge at the end of the 2011 season, Jayco-AIS was always going to be left with a veritable gulf in its 2012 roster. Hepburn won two stages of last year's Tour de l'Avenir, while Durbridge capped his season with the under 23 world time trial crown - both big shoes to fill."A lot of people were telling me, 'you'll be tired' after Tour Down Under, but what I found last year is that I respond really well to racing, it really helped to string together form," said McCarthy to Cyclingnews. "I did my best to be as good as I could have been for the January racing, I knew I'd be in for a shot at the Tour Down Under spot so I could train with that in mind.

2012 SRAM Red - Full details

SRAM have bucked the trend of 11-speed cassettes and electronic shifting for their wholly revamped 2012 Red group, preferring instead to stick with 10 rear cogs and conventional cable actuation. The new 1,739g claimed weight lops about 150g off of what was already a superlight package and major improvements to the brakes, derailleurs and drivetrain provide better stopping power, smoother front shifts and quieter running to accompany the updated ergonomics.SRAM have also cleverly built a chain catcher into the braze-on front derailleur mounting hardware as standard equipment SRAM's version, on the other hand, mechanically locks the catcher in place with specific front derailleur mounting hardware and a neatly integrated adjustment screw. It's easy to set up and holds its position firm even under moderate loads. In addition, clamp-on derailleur variants are built with the chain catcher mounting base.

Specialized CruX for Zdeněk Štybar
This weekend Zdeněk Štybar (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) is hoping to complete a hat trick, going for three world championship cyclo-cross titles in as many years, and he'll be doing so on a bike that he's only been racing for a month. The Czech racer already owns six world championship medals – he took two world titles as a U23 rider, plus bronze (2008), silver (2009) and two golds (2010, 2011) in the elite category – and has spent the past four seasons on the same bike, Ridley’s carbon X-Night.The bike is incredibly stiff,” added Stybar in a Specialized press release. “I can feel the power going right into the bike. Plus, it’s 400g lighter than the previous bike I was riding, which is always a great benefit – especially when you have to carry the bike!”

Cheers!!!
