Albert II crowned king of the Belgians

With an irrefutable performance in the dunes of Koksijde 25-year-old Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus) completed a race-long solo to capture his second win at the Cyclo-cross World Championships. No other rider combined his excellent technical skills through the sand stretches with the brutal power he had on the sections in between the two unforgiving dunes."I thought about that the last time I rode it, thinking that he was now mine. This feeling is unbeatable. It's the biggest win of my career. Now my season succeeded," Albert said.

Meares confident ahead of World Championship tilt

Anna Meares claimed her 23rd Australian senior track title in Adelaide overnight, with victory in the women's keirin final overcoming a late lunge from her World Championship-winning partner in the team sprint, Kaarle McCullochMeares and the rest of the Australian team now shift their focus to the fourth round of the UCI Track World Cup in London at the Olympic Velodrome held from February 17 and then a home UCI Track World Championships in the first week of April in the run in to the London Olympic Games.I'm actually really excited, I feel like I've taken a great deal of confidence from these championships," Meares told reporters.

Specialized CruX for Zdeněk Štybar

This weekend Zdeněk Štybar (Omega Pharma-Quick-Step) is hoping to complete a hat trick, going for three world championship cyclo-cross titles in as many years, and he'll be doing so on a bike that he's only been racing for a month.The Czech racer already owns six world championship medals – he took two world titles as a U23 rider, plus bronze (2008), silver (2009) and two golds (2010, 2011) in the elite category – and has spent the past four seasons on the same bike, Ridley’s carbon X-Night.The bike is incredibly stiff,” added Stybar in a Specialized press release. “I can feel the power going right into the bike. Plus, it’s 400g lighter than the previous bike I was riding, which is always a great benefit – especially when you have to carry the bike!”
